Artefacture 2011

The New Artefacture Website has finally launched!

Besides a brand new look, you’ll notice that there’s a new component to the site – design work. Moving forward Artefacture will function as a multidisciplinary design studio as well as a purveyor of design themed apparel, personal acces- sories and home/office products.

The decision to combine my Osika Design studio with Artefacture was recommended by family, friends and colleagues. After some deliberation, it appeared that this was a natural step to combine both businesses as they are both essentially about creating good design. Once I came to the conclusion that this made sense, I set plans in motion late last year and now after many months of hard work, the new Artefacture is here.

Busy with Projects

Besides working on the new site, the studio has been up to it’s eyeballs with design projects. We just wrapped up designing a Propsectus for SOS Ministries – a Christian Ministry working in Central America, Africa and the Middle East. We also recently teamed up with an awesome San Francisco product design firm, Y Studios, and together developed a new brand identity and packaging design for “Sphero” – a cool robotic ball that is controlled via an iPhone. Artefacture has also been very busy working with Nokia on a variety of visual UI/UX initiatives for new Social Networking apps – all this work plus more will be posted in the Work section soon.

New T-Shirts Coming

Now that the site is complete, Artefacture can focus on adding new t-shirts and products to our collection. We are currently developing new t-shirt designs as well as creating new versions of “I Will Pay for Goodesign” as well as “Design Will Save the World”. We also have a few new coffee mug designs coming out and perhaps a surprise or two. Expect to see these new products released in the next few months, we will keep you posted.

Hello San Francisco!

Time flies! It’s been 8 months since Artefacture switched coasts and moved to this wonderful city. Apart from figuring out where the best Vietnamese restau- rant is and getting used to scaling the hills in our neighborhood, things are slowly starting to settle and we are proud to now call SF home! (still can’t believe that it’s this cold in the summer).

Please check back often for news updates on the blog, we’ll be posting new projects as they happen as well as concepts/sketches of new product ideas – feedback is always welcome.

Thanks to our fans, best to you all – Andreu O.

Artefacture Busier than Ever!

Things have been hectic for Artefacture these past few months!

In addition to our cross-country move from Boston to San Francisco, we have been busy working on a brand new website as well as new designs for early next year! We will keep everyone informed of our progress – so stay tuned.

In the spirit of the holidays, we recently donated more t-shirts to the Oke-Odan Children’s Charity in Nigeria, Africa. This is the second time Artefacture has donated tees to the charity and are happy we can help make a difference for our friends in Africa.

If anyone would like to say hello or request a reprint of their favorite past Artefacture t-shirt, please don’t hesitate and send us a note, we are busy planning our next line and would love feedback from our fans! Thanks – Andreu

Wonderland: new SF boutique

There’s a new shop in town and it’s over in what could be the razor edge of all things hip in SF – 24th/Harrison. Last night’s opening party was great. Irene Hernanadez-Feiks of Chillin Productions fame is operating Wonderland, as the boutique and art gallery is called. Check it out, say hi and remark on our great tees!

Stay tuned……….

LOVESICK III – Artefacture gets sexy this Valentines Day

Happy belated New Year. The fashion show circuit is live and well in San Francisco, often fractalizing into new forms like this event put on by friend and fashion designer Alexandria Von Bromssen. We recommend skipping the candlelight dinner and heading over to Mighty for a night of fashion and dance in Cupid’s hot kitchen. We’ll be there with our great tees, now in very limited supply!

From the site:

If you can’t cure the sickness, treat the symptoms this February 14th at Mighty. You won’t find a cure for your broken heart, however, if you drag yourself over to 119 Utah Street at 7p.m. you will find a plethora of palliative pleasantries.

Dec 5th, next t-shirt selling event in San Francisco

As this remarkable decade comes to a close it brings with it the 5th year of our t-shirt experiment and we are humbled by all of the support you have shown over the years. There is definitely much to give thanks for.

To that end, we’re going to have a great sale at the upcoming Chillin’ Productions event. But it’s not just about cutting deals for cool tees, but rather a celebration of our values and common vision. We hope you can join us!

UNION Design Festival this Sunday in Hayes Valley, SF

Come by and check out our hot sales!

Summerland at Mint Plaza, SF

It’s well known that summer doesn’t show up in San Francisco until you see pop-up Halloween stores open for business. And with the heat comes outdoor festivals. On Saturday, the 26th, we’ll be at Summerland, a new event taking place at Mint Plaza. Come on by and enjoy the bands and the great vibe. Of course, we’ll have plenty of Artefacture t-shirts for sale.

Donation to Oke-Odan Childrens’ Charity helps fundraising effort in African village

Last spring we donated a bunch of t-shirts to the Oke-Odan Children’s Charity in Nigeria, Africa. To say thanks, the Oke-Odan children created a poster that we’ve posted below.

The donated t-shirts where used in a raffle held on May 26, 2009, called, “The 2009 Scholarship Raffle Draws”. Proceeds went to the parents of the children in need to help pay for school tuition and to purchase textbooks and other school supplies. Artefacture shirts and other donations such as toys and sports items were raffled off in the fundraiser.

The event was sponsored by the Association of Overseas Oke-Odan based in Chicago, IL.

We’re proud to have been able to participate in this great cause – best of luck to those great kids!

Next show: Rock Make Street Festival, August 23rd, in SF

Check us out at the 2nd Annual Rock Make Street Festival, which will take place on Sunday, August 23rd 2009 on Treat Avenue between 17th Street and 18th Street in the Mission District. According to the event site, this year’s festival will be about twice the size as the inaugural show last year, and feature 12 Bay Area bands performing on two stages with over 60 local artists and craftspeople showing their wares in between (That’d be us).

Art + Economics: in pictures

Thanks to fashion photographer Del Geromino for a great event and all the great panelists for a lively discussion around how to run your own business, thrive in this economy, how to use social media to grow, and more. Check out the shots:

Artefacture to speak at ‘The Economics of Art’ event

Howdy Artefans, I’ll be on a panel in a few weeks alongside friends talking about the business of fashion in today’s environment. It’s going to be a great event. More info:

For Immediate Release

June 1, 2009

The Economics of Art is a San Francisco Fashion Entrepreneur speaker series featuring Christopher Jablonski / Artefacture, Jennifer Lynne / Porcelynne, Jasmin Zorlu / Hat Designer, Scatha Allison / Fashion Designer and Yetunde Schuhmann / Executive Director of Innovative Fashion Council of San Francisco.

Our mission is to have an open dialogue to engage in a Forum to scrutinize the idea of ‘ The Economics of Art.’ This series will focus on how to be smart, be practical and be useful on how to bring up solutions during an economic downturn by means of being creative.

San Francisco is an epicenter of Creative Talents and we would like to hear what our local creatives have to say about small business solutions.

From this series, we will learn from the speakers, their current projects, their creative modules and simply, how to create a network exchange amongst our peers in the San Francisco’s fashion and art community.

Please join us on June 18th, Thursday Evening at Project One Gallery at 251 Rhode Island Street, San Francisco, CA 94013, a plush-positive modern venue two blocks from the San Francisco Design Center.

The evening also includes a Fashion Exhibit and a Runway Show featuring Carly Mikkelsen, Jamie Cole, and Julia Meeks. All from the Academy of Arts and San Francisco State University.

This event will be benefiting the upcoming San Francisco Fashion Awards, a summer event extravaganza.
